Description

Schluter KERDI DS is a specialised waterproofing membrane and vapour barrier designed for high-humidity environments such as swimming pools, spa areas, and commercial applications. It is especially recommended for moisture-sensitive substrates like wood, plasterboard, and gypsum plaster.

This membrane is an advanced version of the standard “”Schluter KERDI 200 Waterproofing Roll””, made from polyethylene and featuring an sd value exceeding 100 m, qualifying it as a vapor barrier in construction. The 0.5 mm thick membrane includes water vapour-blocking additives and has imprinted gridlines for easier cutting and precise material usage. The gridlines also indicate the minimum 5 cm overlap required when working with multiple sheets.

Schluter KERDI DS should be applied to an even, load-bearing substrate using a suitable adhesive, such as one spread with a 4 mm notch trowel (like the Schluter TROWEL). Tiles are laid directly on the membrane using appropriate adhesive and bedding materials, or other trowel-applied coverings and plaster can be used.

While Schluter KERDI DS provides effective waterproofing, it does not offer the necessary uncoupling function for screed and tile installations in outdoor areas exposed to temperature fluctuations. For these scenarios, it’s recommended to pair this membrane with Schluter DITRA DRAIN or Schluter DITRA 25 for combined waterproofing and uncoupling.

The membrane is waterproof, highly resistant to chemicals, ageing, and rot, and retains its elasticity over time. It withstands exposure to saline solutions, acids, alkalis, many organic solvents, alcohols, and oils. For specific resistance information, details about the concentration, temperature, and duration of exposure are required.

Before installation, ensure the substrate is even, load-bearing, and free of moisture. Any surfaces that could inhibit adhesion must be removed or properly treated.
